This year was....interesting to say the least. And while I have an elephantine memory, I find it more interesting to read/post these recaps with images to follow. So yes this does not document all that happened this year, but it's a nice little pixel by pixel glimpse into 2011...
Spent my birthday at Castles & Coasters in Phoenix. While I have no use for the Coasters portion of this mind blowingly amazing amusement park, their 72 hole (4 different courses) mini-golf course is perhaps the greatest thing I ever experienced.
Yeah. Nothing to report. It was a freezing winter. Sarah and I stayed inside and watched movies.
Went back down to Phoenix to escape the cold!!! Quit my job in the meantime as well (long time coming). Finally got the guts to get my hair cut! Loved it from the instance they cut it. I know there are some of you who miss the long hair, but I adore it this way. Donated the hair they cut off too, so good deeds all around. Spent my time in Phoenix riding my bike around, taking picnics into the desert, playing chess with old with old retired dudes who smoked pipes and were dashingly fashionable. Went to the Botanical Gardens and was amazed at the flowering cacti.
Came home. Went to a bunch of Weddings where I got drunk and still have mystery scars from those ridiculously fun nights. Did some designs inspired by Ms Julie Klausner and she saw them, loved them and POSTED THEM ON HER WEBSITE? We talked, emailed, tweeted. She's the best. I still wanna pee in my pants when I think about how incredible that month was. Hearing my name on her podcast made my life.
Travelled with my best travel buddy, Sarah, to Iceland and Northern Europe for our yearly trip!
She is truly the best person to go with and every single day was filled with laughter, adventurous exploration, incredible food & drink and lots of Sarah either putting up with my terrible map reading skills with a smile or Sarah lovingly reading the maps as I would entertain her with fun information about beer breweries, archaeological digs, flying buttresses, and other nerdy facts and fiction.
In June, while job searching and Freelancing, I made a point to go to the Farmer's Market every Saturday to pick up fresh flowers and chat with all the local merchants. There are so many wonderful things you can do while unemployed...I also took care of a bunch of abandoned baby rabbits we found.
Trips to the Market evolved into buying up all the lovely fresh and local fruit Ontario had to offer. To save all the beautiful flavours of Summer I began canning. It is so relaxing and now that I've given all my preserves away for Christmas and seen the smiling faces of my friends who've been eating them, I can't wait to make more.
I was August's Style Icon on Chictopia.com and got to feature some amazing Literary themed looks on the blogs and Chictopia.com. It was the most fun I've had blogging. Themes are the way to go. If only for the ease of producing the content.
Thanksgiving with Chelsea at the Farm was delicious, nutritious, and all around fun filled good time. We played Apple Grounder baseball and I made the best Turkey in the world....no guys, it was just really that good. Ask Chelsea.
Bowling team is in full swing. John is the master. Chelsea is the ringer. Daniel is Splitster, and I'm Team Heart...aka the worst ;) & Work Christmas Tree decorating is fun!!!
More to come from December but it's not up on flickr....so yeah.
Well, that was 2011 in JPEGs. Hope you enjoyed. This was mainly a project for myself - to kick my butt back into blogging :)
